Barry Burd is set to present Google Glass: A Look at Smart Internet Eyeglasses at the Ewing Senior and Community Center at 2 p.m. on May 6.

Burd explains that Google Glass is a wearable computer with an optical display mounted in eyeglass frames that allows the wearer to communicate with the Internet hands-free via voice commands. The device allows the wearer to easily see web pages and notifications, launch apps, take pictures and videos and place phone calls.

Burd is a professor of math and computer science at Drew University. He is the author of several articles and books including Java for Dummies, Android Application Development All-in-One for Dummies and Java Programming for Android Developers for Dummies.

Burd holds a masters degree in computer science from Rutgers and a Ph.D. in math from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.

Before the presentation there will be a session at 1:30 p.m. called Q’s and A’s with the Computer Learning Center Faculty, where audience members can seek answers to their computer-related questions.

Both programs are free.

The Ewing Senior and Community Center is located at 999 Lower Ferry Road, Ewing.
