Pvt. David Baker, a 2012 graduate of Notre Dame High School, graduated from Marine Boot Camp Dec. 14, 2012.
Pvt. David F. Baker graduated Dec. 14, 2012 from the U.S. Marine Corps boot camp in Parris Island, S.C.
The 18-year-old Ewing resident completed 13 weeks of basic training designed to challenge recruits both physically and mentally. Baker spent numerous hours in classroom and field assignments, and was trained in hand to hand combat, combat water survival, assorted weapons training and marksmanship. He also received instructions on the Marine Corps core values.
Baker and his fellow recruits of 3rd Battalion, Platoon 3100, Kilo Company, ended their training phase with the Crucible, a 54-hour team effort and problem-solving exercise. Baker is continuing his training at Camp Geiger, part of the Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune complex in North Carolina that is the home of the United States School of Infantry East.
Baker is the son of Karen Baker, brother of Ashley Baker and a 2012 graduate of Notre Dame High School.
