EHS celebrates 2016 senior athletes

Ewing High School celebrated the accomplishments of the school’s 2016 senior athletes at the annual Senior Athletic Awards Night on June 7. The event included a dinner for the athletes and their families followed by an awards ceremony.

Two‐sport athlete (soccer/softball) St. Joseph‐bound Jenna Capuano was the winner of the NJSIAA Scholar‐Athlete award and was named as the female Karas‐McGurk award winner, combining athletics and academics.

Track standout Alex Adomat, headed to Clemson in the fall, was named the male winner of the Karas‐McGurk award.

The Karas‐McGurk Award is dedicated to the memory of Andy Karas and Joe McGurk, who were longtime supporters and proponents of Blue Devil Athletics.

Outstanding three‐sport athlete (Field Hockey, Swimming, Lacrosse) Veronica Wilson, who will also be attending St. Joseph, was named the Outstanding Female Senior Athlete and two‐sport standout (cross country/swimming) David Piegaro was recognized as the Outstanding Male Senior Athlete.

CVC Sportsmanship winners were basketball all‐star Justin Porter, headed to Montclair State to continue his playing career, and The College of New Jersey‐bound soccer/basketball player Clair Ehret.

“The Ewing Public Schools are very proud of our senior athletes and wish them the best as they move out into the world beyond Ewing High School,” said Athletic Director Bud Kowal.
