The Central Jersey Choral Society will present Mendelssohn’s oratorio Elijiah at two Mercer County locations on May 31 and June 7 at 4:30 p.m. The concert locations are at Titusville Presbyterian Church located at 48 River Drive in Titusville on May 31, and at St. Paul Lutheran Church located at 79 One Mile Road Ext. in East Windsor on June 7. The show will feature Metropolitan Opera singer Harold Wilson singing the title role.

Wilson debuts with Opera Colorado this year in their productions of Die Zauberflote and Aida. He also returns to the Metropolitan Opera for his seventh season covering Timur in Turandot.

Wilson has sung with Opera Philadelphia, Santa Fe Opera, Sarasota Opera, Tulsa Opera, Minnesota Opera, Madison Opera, Birmingham Opera, Dayton Opera, Memphis Opera and Lyric Opera of Kansas City.

Wilson can be heard this summer at Carnegie Hall as the bass soloist in Mozart’s Requiem.

The CJCS is one of Mercer County’s oldest art groups. It was formed in 1949 at the request of the Trenton Junior Chamber of Commerce as the Trenton Community Chorus and later became the Mercer County Chorus and the Greater Trenton Choral Society.

The CJCS is comprised of both professionally educated and trained vocalists, and individuals with a love of singing.

The CJCS is supported by the Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission through funding from the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment of the Arts.

Tickets for performances are available at cjchoralsociety.org.
