The Computer Learning Center is set to present a talk called “The Pros and Cons of 3D Printing.”

Notable Software, Inc. owner and computer forensic expert witness Rebecca Mercuri plans to discuss how 3D printing works, what capabilities can be expected, costs for purchase, operation and maintenance, and object design software tools.

Her experience in an educational project funded by the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers with kit and commercial 3D printers will be reviewed.

There will also be a live demonstration of the MakerBot, and an opportunity to view a variety of printed objects. Mercuri will also show and explain the FreeCAD open-source design software.

The program, the latest in the Computer Learning Center’s Computer Tips and Tricks series, is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Ewing Senior and Community Center, 999 Lower Ferry Road, Ewing.

A question and answer session with the CLC staff is set to precede the program at 1:30 p.m. During the session the audience can seek answers to their computer-related questions.

The non-profit, all-volunteer Computer Learning Center at Ewing offers a full range of computer skills courses for adults in the central New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania.
