Younity, formerly known as Womanspace, will mark its 30th Annual Awards Dinner on Thursday, May 28.
The organization will honor journalist Amna Nawaz for reporting on domestic and sexual violence and the systems affecting survivors.
The event will be held at Trenton Country Club and will recognize Nawaz with the Barbara Boggs Sigmund Award, named for Younity’s founder and longtime advocate for victims of domestic violence.
Nawaz is the co-anchor and co-managing editor of PBS NewsHour. Her work has focused on domestic and intimate partner violence, the criminalization of survivors, and the systemic barriers that often prevent accountability and safety for those experiencing abuse.
“Barbara Boggs Sigmund believed deeply that protecting those most vulnerable to abuse is a shared community responsibility,” said Nathalie Nelson, CEO and president of Younity.
“Amna Nawaz’s reporting reflects that same belief—bringing visibility to lived experience, holding systems accountable, and helping communities better understand the realities of domestic and sexual violence,” Nelson said.
In addition to the Barbara Boggs Sigmund Award, Younity will also recognize an outstanding community partner and an outstanding volunteer during the annual dinner.
Founded nearly 50 years ago, Younity provides crisis response, counseling, legal advocacy, prevention education, and community outreach for individuals and families impacted by domestic and sexual violence across Mercer County.
The awards dinner serves as one of the organization’s signature fundraising and recognition events.
The 2026 dinner will be held at Trenton Country Club to accommodate growing attendance from community partners and supporters. Registration and sponsorship information will be announced in the coming months.
