Young pianist to make Princeton University debut

Pianist Behzod Abduraimov is set to perform at Princeton University.

The concert is scheduled for 8 p.m. Nov. 21 at Richardson Auditorium in Alexander Hall. This is Abduraimov’s Princeton University Concerts debut.

Born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in 1990, Abduraimov began to play the piano at the age of five. At 18, he achieved won first prize at the 2009 London International Piano Competition with a performance of Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3.

Since then Abduraimov has appeared as guest soloist with major orchestras including the London Philharmonic and the Sydney Symphony.

In 2012, he released his award-winning debut recording featuring Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre.

The International Record Review said “He has the neuro-motor responses of a jungle cat and the energy reserves of an Olympic athlete on peak form.”

Abduraimov’s program includes works by Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt and Danse Macabre.

Pre-concert talk by Ruth Ochs is scheduled for 7 p.m.

General public tickets range from $45 to $20 and student tickets from $10 to $5 for students.
