Acharya Girish Jha has spent 33 years studying and teaching authentic yoga and meditation in the original Himalayan tradition. During his first presentation in Plainsboro on Sunday, September 16, he shares ways to overcome stress, depression, anxiety, tension, insomnia, and disease, as well as how to enhance concentration and memory, and how to improve stamina, health, and morale. A graduate of the University of Delhi with a post graduate degree in yoga and modern science, he worked for 25 years with the government of India in management, research, education, and administration.

Mentored by many Himalayan masters for more than 30 years, Girish has an extensive knowledge of yoga, yoga philosophy, Sanskrit, world religions, modern science, and ancient texts and scriptures. He was awarded the title, Acharya, comparable to the Tibetan Lama.

An important part of his work is presenting workshops on stress management for corporate executives. Based on many years of research, Girish created the New Paradigm of Living that combines scientific findings with the wisdom of Yoga and spirituality. “NPL aims at managing and preventing stress and anger, improving relationships, and creating a physical and psychological balance,” he says.

“Scientific research has proven that a regular practice of yoga can bring about positive physiological, biochemical, and psychological changes that are helpful in preserving and promoting health.”

Beneficial health indicators include low blood pressure, low basic metabolic rate, low heart rate, low pulse rate, hormonal balance, endocrine balance, and balanced functioning of the autonomic nervous system. “Medical doctors are using my services as adjunct therapy to their medical treatment,” he says.

His unique background allowed him to create a vast number of programs including Corporate Stress Management; Healthy Aging for Seniors; Youth Violence; Yogic Counseling for Social, Professional, and Family Issues; Certification for Yoga Teachers; Intensive Meditation; Women Awakening; and Spiritual Awakening. “Each exercise is a synergy of breath, body, brain, and mind, thus strengthening the autonomic nervous system,” Girish says. “Persons at any age will benefit from these simple practices provided they are supervised by a yoga expert.”
