Chris Steeber of Plainsboro created the winning label for Crossing Vineyards’ 10th anniversary special edition chardonnay. The winery in Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania, held a contest on Facebook. Judging was based on label design, creativity, and originality and was conducted by a jury in conjunction with and supervised by the winery’s owners, Tom and Christine Carroll; and their son, Tom Jr., the winery’s vintner.

Steeber, a graphic designer and customer of Crossing for nearly eight years, received more than $1,000 in prizes with his design for the two-day anniversary weekend at a ceremony on September 21.

“It was a no-brainer to enter the contest after seeing it on Facebook and to help out a local business that I have been frequenting for many years,” said Steeber. “I have thoroughly enjoyed many of the wines Crossing creates, and it is a favorite of the local wineries I have been able to travel to and sample.”

Among the prizes Steeber won is a case of Legacy wine; a framed wine label signed by Crossing’s winemaker; two VIP tickets to the winery’s anniversary winemaker’s dinner; and free, unlimited, standard wine tastings at Crossing for the winner and up to three guests for one year.

Steeber graduated from Kean University with a major in psychology and studied visual communications at Katharine Gibbs School. He has designed logos for the Lakeland Blue Claws and the CanAm baseball league. He has been a documentation change specialist at LifeCell Corporation since 2011.
