Why We Need Women Leaders

##M:[more]##I recently turned 15, and although it will be a while until my vote counts, I still support women in running for leadership opportunities. Women would not necessarily make better candidates than men, only different ones, and I feel that as a nation it is time we let a woman run the country.

Women are genetically different from men, and these unique qualities will help the country. Women are naturally empathetic, which comes from their maternal instinct, and relate better to the poor and the elderly. A female president would concentrate on human relations issues and the well-being of all citizens.

It is proven that women are also better at handling anger than men are. While men and women both have the same capability to produce emotions, women are better at keeping them in check because their orbital frontal cortex, a part of the brain designed to modulate aggression, is larger than the male version. Keeping her cool would prove invaluable during debates and negotiations with foreign leaders.

In addition, men’s talents tend to specialize in one area, but women are balanced with many different fields. This quality makes women more open minded than men because they see many solutions to a problem. Therefore, women are good at managing and generalist thinking, and are naturally cut out for leadership.

I am not saying that male leaders are bad, only suggesting that we give more females a chance to lead — and being president would certainly fulfill that opportunity.
