West Windsor resident wins SkillsUSA bronze

A West Windsor won a bronze medal at the SkillsUSA Championships held in Kansas City, Mo., June 25-27.

Zachary Strong came in third in the Building Maintenance competition, 2013.

Strong was one of 21 students from around country who participated in the 6-hour long Building Maintenance competition.

Some tasks included stripping, buffing and waxing 25 square feet of floor space. Strong was challenged to clean carpeting, an office and a restroom.

The event also included a mock interview and role play scenario with a dissatisfied client. All of the SkillsUSA competitions were run with the help of industry, trade associations, and labor organizations.

Zachary Strong is a 2012 graduate of West Windsor – Plainsboro High School North.

He completed the Landscape, Maintenance and Design program at Mercer County Technical Schools’ Arthur R. Sypek Center in June. Strong plans to study business at Mercer County Community College in the fall.
