Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre to perform Legally Blonde the Musical

Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre will perform Legally Blonde the Musical on the weekends of May 29 and June 5 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre is located inside Washington Crossing State Park at 355 Washington Crossing-Pennington Road in Titusville.

The play is based off the hit movie, Legally Blonde, and is two hours long. The main character, Elle Woods, is the college sweetheart and homecoming queen who doesn’t take no for an answer. When her boyfriend, Warner, dumps her for someone “serious,” Elle puts down her credit cards, hits the books and heads for Harvard Law School.

Starring as Elle Woods is Jill Palena. Palena has played numerous leads at the WCOAT over the theater’s past five seasons. She starred as Roxie Hart in Chicago, Millie Dillmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie and Anita in West Side Story.

The musical’s score includes such numbers as “Serious,” “What You Want,” and “Whipped Into Shape.” Music and lyrics are by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin and book is by Heather Hach.

Direction and choreography for Legally Blonde the Musical is by WCOAT artistic directors Louis Palena and Jordan Brennan. Musical direction is by Mike Nappi.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children 12 years or younger and $12 for seniors ages 65 and older. Tickets can be purchased at the WCOAT box office a half-hour prior to the performance. Group discounts are available. The box office phone number is (267) 885 – 9857.
