With construction on the Village Center continuing, Plainsboro Township Committee also moved along with sewers for nearby residents.##M:[more]## As a bygone remnant of Plainsboro’s rural heritage, many homes in Plainsboro’s village area are still linked to septic tanks.

On June 22, the Township Committee approved a bond ordinance appropriating $203,”587 for sewer construction and improvements for approximately 40 properties on Edgemere Avenue, Plainsboro Road, and Dey Road.

It also appointed a three-member commission to assess costs to homeowners. The appointees are Zoning Board of Adjustment member Werner Schmid, Princeton Landing property manager Marjorie Behrens, and Housing Advisory Committee member Dolores Corona.

A long discussed agreement between the township and Sharbell Development Corp. is allowing homeowners to tie into the sewer system for about $5,”000 each — a significant savings from the $18,”000 to $25,”000 the project would typically cost.
