Trenton Historical Society is accepting applications for its house restoration program, Restore Trenton!

Through Restore Trenton!, THS supplies homeowners with grants ranging from $500 to $3,000 to repair or replace exterior architectural details and features.

Since 2007, this program aims to preserve the character of the buildings and neighborhoods that are unique to Trenton.

Eligible properties must be located within Trenton city limits and be at least 50 years old. THS said preference is given to homes that are located in a historic district, like Berkeley Square or Mill Hill.

Grants will be awarded to homes that need exterior improvements. Examples of such renovations and repairs are door and window replacement, roof repairs, weatherization of the building and painting.

THS said homeowners who have already started a restoration project are not eligible for a grant.

Applicants must submit a project budget, résumés of proposed contractors and architects and color photos of the property.

Application are due April 15.

Winners will receive the grant in two stages; first at halfway to completion and again when the project is finished.

To date, THS has awarded $52,200 in grants. Last year they helped seven homeowners restore their properties.

More information and grant applications are online at trentonhistory.org.
