Several members of Girl Scout Troop 600 were busy trail building at Roger’s Preserve on Sunday, January 7. The girls made significant improvements to the existing trail that runs from Cranbury Road to the sidewalk between Sherbrooke Drive and Landing Lane, including raking the trail, lining the trail with deadfall, and picking up litter.##M:[more]##

The group was led by members of Friends of West Windsor Open Space and West Windsor Bicycle and Pedestrian Alliance including Ron Slin, Ken Carlson, Roger Alig, and Ace Miller. They taught the Girl Scouts the basics of trail building and then they were off blazing a new trail that connects the first trail they worked on to the trail that leads to Grovers Mill Pond.

Several of the girls of Troop 600 have taken on trail building and trail maintenance on the Rogers Preserve Trails this year to earn their Girl Scout Bronze Award and others worked on the project to earn community service. The trailblazers included Carly Bloom, Natasha Hanstveit, Katie Henkel, Dani Henkel, Amani Saeed, Aana Bansal, and RaeLynn Chapman. Their co-leaders are Carey Bloom and Kate Henkel.
