Princeton Symphony Orchestra’s Holiday POPS! concert

On Saturday, Dec. 17, the Princeton Symphony Orchestra Holiday POPS! Seasonal Delights concert will embrace the spirit of the holidays with the Princeton High School Choir and New Jersey Tap Ensemble.

The festive program includes March of the Toys by Victor Herbert, Christmas Concerto by Arcangelo Corelli, selections from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker, and Robert Shaw’s The Many Moods of Christmas. No Holiday POPS! concert is complete without the tradition of the audience joining in on carols arranged by Leroy Anderson.

Two performances will be held at at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Richardson Auditorium on the Princeton University campus. For more information visit princetonsymphony.org or call (609) 497-0020.

West Windsor Arts Council’s Winter Warm Up

The West Windsor Arts Council and MarketFair Mall are teaming up to host the Winter Warm Up on Sunday, Dec. 18 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

This year’s Winter Warm Up will feature performances by West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North’s a cappella group, Out of the Blue, and a STEAM—Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math—project.

Art activities—all materials supplied—and musical performances will be located in the center courtyard at MarketFair Mall, Route 1 in Princeton. For additional information about the family-friend event, visit westwindsorarts.org.

Bordentown’s Holiday Train Show

While this event is technically just outside Mercer County, Bordentown City’s Holiday Train Display at Old City Hall is a festive tradition that can’t be missed.

A variety of collectors and organizations will show off their model trains and villages at the annual free, family event.

The display is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. For more information, visit the Bordentown Current’s website.

Hopewell’s Home for Christmas House Tour & Quilt Show

Six of Hopewell’s private homes will open their doors and share their charm, seasonal decorations and holiday warmth during the Home for Christmas House Tour & Quilt Show. The tour will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18.

In addition to the house tours, three of Hopewell’s churches—Hopewell Presbyterian, Hopewell United Methodist, Calvary Baptist—will display a collection of antique and new quilts created by some of the local quilters.

The House Tour & Quilt Show is one of a series of events celebrated in Hopewell during 2016 to celebrate the 125th anniversary of its incorporation as a borough. Tickets are $20. For more information, and to purchase tickets, visit hopewellboro-nj.us.

‘A Christmas Carol’ at McCarter

It just wouldn’t feel like the holiday season in Princeton without McCarter Theatre’s A Christmas Carol. The theater company added some twists on an old favorite this year with new sets, new music and a new cast featuring a community ensemble.

This year’s production will feature area adults as greeters, ushers, and most importantly, in singing and dancing roles in the show itself. Roles that were formerly filled by professionals will now belong to dedicated amateurs with a wide range performing experience.

The show runs through Sunday, Dec. 31. For showtimes and to buy tickets, go to mccarter.org.
