Teal Ribbons

Members of High School South student council and cheerleaders and the WWP Wildcat Jr. midget cheerleaders met August 31 to wrap the trees along Clarksville Road with teal ribbons for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. The ribbons are in honor of those who have survived ovarian cancer and in memory of those who have succumbed to the disease.

This cause is particularly near and dear to the group. Alyssa Wagner, 13, of West Windsor battled ovarian cancer last year. Wagner is a midget cheerleader, and her mother, Karen Wagner, is cheer commissioner of the Wildcats and has been an active member in the organization for years.

“I am overjoyed to say that Alyssa is doing well,” says Libby Vinson, vice president of the Wildcats. “This is such an important cause, and the local connection makes it a prime opportunity to raise greater awareness about a disease that has taken far too many.”
