TCNJ president to speak at Women’s College Club meeting

Women’s College Club of Princeton is set to host its annual luncheon.

The luncheon is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sept. 15 in the parish hall of All Saints’ Church, 16 All Saints’ Road, in Princeton.

Guest speaker Dr. R. Barbara Gitenstein, president of the College of New Jersey, is set to present “Contemporary Challenges for Quality Higher Education in America.”

Gitenstein is the first woman to serve as the president TCNJ and brings to it her unique background of 30 years as both a professor and administrator. Her focus has been on delivering the highest caliber academic experience to the undergraduate and graduate student body of almost 7,000, as well as seeking and finding sources of funding for the physical plant which now totals more than $450 million.

Her background includes a bachelors degree with honors in English from Duke and a PhD in English and American Literature from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Light refreshments will be served after the presentation.

The meeting is open to the public.
