West Windsor residents who pay their taxes quarterly will be required to make their next payment by cash or check. The township’s agreement with Bank of America to process credit card payments expired in March, leaving the township with no way to accept this payment method.##M:[more]##

There are no other payments affected by the expiration of the contract, according to tax collector Rita Carr. Carr estimates that less than 20 percent of West Windsor residents pay taxes on a quarterly basis. Most homeowners who finance their home include their tax payment with their mortgage.

The township is reviewing proposals from financial institutions for merchant card services, and hopes to be able to process fourth quarter credit card services. Third quarter payments are due by Tuesday, August 1.
