Residents of both West Windsor and Plainsboro will see their tax bills rise due to a combination of municipal and school taxes next year.##M:[more]## A low township tax hike in West Windsor is offset by a spike in its apportionment of school taxes, and a drop in Plainsboro’s school taxes will be erased by a large jump in municipal taxes.

Between school and township taxes, West Windsor residents would be charged $1.48 per $100 of assessed value if the proposed WW-P and municipal budgets are approved. The school tax would rise by 5.3 percent, or by 6 cents to $1.20, and the municipal tax will be set at 28 cents. For the average home, valued at $574,”800, municipal taxes would be $1,”609 and its school taxes would be $6,”898. The total would be $8,”507, an increase of $402 over 2006.

Plainsboro residents could pay as much as $1.74. The township tax rate would rise by 6.8 cents to 30, an increase of more than 20 percent. The school tax rate would be lowered by one penny to $1.44, providing small relief for the municipal tax increase. For the average Plainsboro home, valued at $398,”625, the town tax would be $1,”196, the school tax would be $5,”740. The total would be $6936, $231 more than last year.
