State Report Card Shows WW-P Slip

Both WW-P South and North are among the top 10 high schools in the state in average SAT score, but Princeton High School jumped ahead of both to become the highest-ranked area school. North is third in the state with an average score of 1766 and South is seventh with 1756.##M:[more]##

This is the first year the SAT includes an essay section worth 800 points. Starting this year, the test is scored out of a possible 2400 points, rather than 1600. When compared to last year’s scores, based on math and verbal sections only, North’s average score dropped from 1202 to 1188. South dropped from 1240 to 1181.

While the test scores dropped, other figures improved. South achieved a 100 percent graduation rate in 2005-06. It had been 95.8 percent the year before. North had a 99.7 percent graduation rate, up from 98.3 in 2004-2005.

The district’s total cost per pupil rose as well, if marginally. It spent $13,”241 per student, up $72 from the previous year. When the figure is adjusted to remove tuition expenditures, transportation and other restricted expenses, the comparative cost is $11,”668 per student, up $40 from the previous year.

WW-P teachers are paid well above the state average of $53,”871. The district’s teachers made an average of $59,”165 in 2005-06, up from $56,”100 in 2004-05.
