Sports Briefs

West Windsor resident John Kalinowski was named the New Jersey Interscholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association Man of the Year for 2008 at a ceremony in West Orange on June 8. He is in his second year as president of the New Jersey South Lacrosse Chapter of U.S. Lacrosse. He was on the original steering committee to help form it in 2007.

Adam Charnin-Aker, a West Windsor resident, was the 2008 winner of the sectional Aquafina Pitch, Hit, and Run competition. He was one of four 13-14 year olds representing the New York metropolitan area at the Team Championships at Yankee Stadium before the team’s game against the Reds on June 21. Charnin-Aker was a member of the winning 2006 West Windsor District 12 All-Star Team. He is the son of former New York Yankee pitcher Jack Aker.

Josh Charnin-Aker, of West Windsor, a current Stanford University student, qualified to compete at the 2008 U.S. Swimming Olympic Trials in Omaha, NE on June 29 through July 3. In the men’s 400-meter individual medley preliminaries, he posted the 47th best time, 4:31.75.
