South Tennis Falls in State Final, 3-2

The Pirates’ season ended on May 24 with its only loss of the season. They lost to the state’s top-ranked team, Westfield, in the finals of the state tournament of champions.

Earlier that day, the team beat Cherry Hill East, 3-2, in a semifinal match. Cherry Hill was the state’s second-ranked team. Steven Fernandez won at second singles, Junjiro Mori and Piray Sekar won at first doubles and Ben Cornfeld and Demetri Vrahnos won at second doubles.
