Skate Park Opens

The West Windsor Township Skate Park at Community Park will open on Saturday, May 12 at 1 p.m. ##M:[more]##The grand opening will include giveaways from local skate shops, contests, music, and demonstrations from experienced skaters. The park will be open for the weekend, and will host a ribbon-cutting on be Monday, May 14, at 4 p.m.

All skaters must register before using the park. Children aged 7-17 must have a parent sign a registration form, which will be available at the grand opening. Skating is free, and the township is insured by the Municipal Joint Insurance Fund.

The park’s design and equipment were funded by the Recreation Commission. According to the township, the idea for the skate park originated with a community survey of recreational needs that showed residents ranked “a place to skate” high on a list of priorities.

Bikes will be allowed in the park at designated times. Skateboards and in-line skates will be allowed in the park at other times. Heelies — shoes with wheels built into the heels — will not be allowed.
