Kate Henkel, co-leader of Girl Scout Troops 216 and 600, and Bear Cub Scouts from Pack 40, organized more than 150 West Windsor residents and scouts in singing to the seniors at three different assisted living facilities in the area this holiday season. In early December, 46 Girl Scouts from troops 217, 600, 676, 1731, and 1806 sang to the seniors at Bear Creek Assisted Living Facility. On December 11, 42 Girl Scouts from troops 216, 1016, 1017, and 1612, and eight members of Pack 40 bear cub scouts sang at Hamilton Continuing Care Facility. On December 14, 27 Girl Scouts from troops 1729, 1866, and 1875, and seven Webelo Cub Scouts from Packs 40 sang at Meadow Lakes Assisted Living Facility. There were also parent chaperones, as well as siblings of the scouts, to help spread the cheer and add to the volume of the voices.##M:[more]##

The scouts also made ornaments and brought treats to present to the seniors after each of the singing events. Henkel accompanied the singers on guitar.

Many of the scouts spoke enthusiastically about the events, ringing the jingle bells, and the smiles on everyone’s face. “I liked singing because I had a chance to express my happy feeling for the holidays,” said Lauren McTingue, a fifth grade Junior Girl Scout.
