West Windsor Council authorized some $96,”000 in contracts for sewer repairs and reconstruction on Wallace and Alexander roads.

The system was damaged in April as a result of a rainstorm that deluged the entire region. The flooding caused a portion of the sewer system to collapse and created a sinkhole on Wallace Road that closed the road for several days.##M:[more]##

Council on September 4 authorized contracts for an emergency bypass sanitary sewer system with Pumping Services, Inc. for $72,”600, and with Ken Conover & Sons for $23,”418. Council did not act on a $19,”714 contract with Sunbelt Systems Inc. because the documents were not ready, according to Gay Huber, deputy clerk.

Council also approved a $27,”180 change order to a contract with Ken Conover & Sons for repairs to the sewer system. The contract was originally awarded in June for an amount not to exceed $65,”933. The revised amount now totals $93,”114.

Council unanimously approved all the contracts by a 3-0 vote. Council members present at the meeting were President William Anklowitz, Linda Geevers, and Heidi Kleinman. Absent were Vice President George Borek, and Charles Morgan.

Council is scheduled to meet next on Monday, September 17, at 7 p.m. at the municipal building. Meanwhile, the West Windsor Planning Board has cancelled its meeting on Wednesday, September 12. The next meeting is on Wednesday, September 19.
