Pinewood Derby

West Windsor Cub Scout Pack 40 had close to 50 scouts and siblings competing in the recent annual Pinewood Derby, a long-standing scout tradition. Competitors build and decorate wooden racecars that are judged on both speed and appearance.

The five fastest cars were made by James Zeoli, first place; Joey Dwyer, second place; Michael Vogt, third place; Patrick Zeoli, fourth place; and Andrew Holubec, fifth place. Ribbons were awarded for the most patriotic, best use of materials, most colorful, and most original design.

“The Pinewood Derby is a great learning experience,” says Anthony Zeoli, cub master. “The kids learn how to handle winning and losing in a supportive environment.
