Teams from Community Middle School and High School South were honored in the National Science Olympiad Competition. Community Middle School placed third in the state and the High School South team placed 13th.

Community Middle School team members include Mohit Hajarnis, Jennifer Ibanez, Payal Marathe, Eugene Tang, Barbara Zhan, Alexander Ameri, Aditya Badeti, David Govorko, Frederick Huang, Daniel Liu, Claire Su, Jasmine Tsai, Kliment Todosov, Rohan Agrawal Raghav Kalra, Siddharth Ghanta, Aaheer Gupta, Bharath Kannan, Neha Kulkarni, Austin Lin, Prianca Tawde, and George Zhou.

Coaches are Arthur Downs, Mrs. Janet Ganesan, and Cynthia Bumber. Fifteen CMS students received five medals while scoring high in the 23 competitive science events.

High School South team members include Manu Venkateswaren, Piyush Poddar, Ronak Gandhi, Stephanie Ku, Mark Benjamin, Avinash Salgam, Becky Shi, Satyajeet Pal, Ante Qu, Ming-Ming Tran, Ashwin Amurthur, Naveen Galla, Aditya Girish, Nikita Singh, Ankita Gore, Sudershan Srinivasan, Peter Ku, Sarath Jaladi, Charles Zhou, and Udit Gupta. The team advisors are Brendan Field, Karen Galley, and Meenakshi Bhattacharya.

High School South medal winners include Satyajeet Pal and Piyush Poddar, fourth place for Dynamic Planet; Ronak Gandhi and Naveen Galla, fifth place for Chemistry Lab; Mark Benjamin and Ante Qu, fourth place for It’s About Time; Manu Venkateswaren and Sarath Jaladi, sixth place for Junkyard Challenge; Mark Benjamin, Piyush Poddar, and Manu Venkateswaren, second place for Picture This; and Nikita Singh and Ankita Gore, first place for Protein Modeling.
