Town Center assistant principal Janet M. Bowes will take over as principal this July after the school board’s approval at the March 22 meeting. Bowes replaces retiring principal Brian Stevens, who has been with the district for 26 years. Bowes’ salary is $153,574.

The board also approved a revision to the tentative budget that added more than $700,000 to the capital project fund, an accounting allocation for projects that may spill into the next budget cycle. Capital projects that were approved at the meeting include roof restoration at High School North and Dutch Neck, and roof replacement at Maurice Hawk. The contracts for the two projects both exceed $750,000 and were awarded to Northeast Roof Maintenance.

Also approved: a $92,2000 contract with Stoneridge Inc. for pool lining restoration at High School South and a $242,200 contract with Pennetta Industrial Automation for HVAC improvements at Dutch Neck.
