American Cancer Society’s “Fresh Start” Program. If smoking cessation is your number one New Year’s resolution, a series of four classes for people who are trying to quit smoking may be a good jumpstart. Participants will receive information on strategies for quitting, support and encouragement from others, and information on stress management. Thursdays, January 22 to February 12, offered noon to 1 p.m. and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the University Medical Center at Princeton. $40; register at 609-497-4480.

Adult and Pediatric CPR. These classes are designed for parents, caregivers, and the general public. Adult CPR class takes place on Thursday, January 22, from 9:30 a.m. to noon; Pediatric CPR class takes place on Saturday, January 17, from 9 a.m. to noon. $35 per class.

Since the average person forgets his or her resolutions by January 5, mark these dates on your 2004 calendar and register now. Then you can get on with your other resolutions — whether to volunteer more, make time for yourself, use your gym membership, clean your car or the garage or your closets, get organized, call an old friend, control road rage, or donate clothes to charity.
