Kristin Miller, a third grade teacher at Dutch Neck Elementary School, presented a lesson about persuasive writing to her students, and the results will make a change on Village Road East when a flashing safety beacon is added next spring.

Parents and administrators have sought a way to slow down the cars zooming past the school but the children were the ones to write persuasive letters after Catherine Foley, PTA safety committee chairperson, presented a talk to the students.

Letters from 22 students were received by West Windsor Township Council members in June and they passed a bond ordinance recently including $50,”000 for the beacon. The now fourth grade students at Millstone were invited to a township committee meeting on September 12 to be recognized and to receive certificates.
