For the North boys’ cross country team, this was a season to remember. Not only have the boys become the first Mercer County team to win the Meet of Champions last month, but they also capped off their season with a fifth place finish on December 6 at the Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, Oregon, following their first place finish at the Northeast Regional meet earlier in November.##M:[more]##

The fifth place finish, with a score of 216, tied Don Bosco Prep, a team that North has been competing with all season, until Jon Squeri who finished with a time of 17:03.1, edged Don Bosco’s sixth runner,

As was the case for most of the season, sophomore Joe Rosa again led the Knights, with a time of 15:19.0 for a fourth place finish. His brother, Jim Rosa, as well as Squeri, Ryan Sleeper, Tyler Corkedale, Anthony Lee, and Stephen Ellwood all had good finishes to add to the team’s score.

From South, Katie Kellner, who also had a great season, finished 27th, with a time of 18:34, at the Foot Locker Cross Country National Finals in San Diego on December 13. Earlier this season, Kellner placed third at the Meet of Champions for the girls. She followed up with a sixth place overall finish at the Footlocker Regionals in November. The senior was third among New Jersey runners, with a time of 18:09.7.
