Robbinsville Science Olympiad team wins second

Robbinsville High School Science Olympiad team finished second in a regional tournament on Jan. 4.

RHS students competed against 25 teams at Camden County College. The team won first place in three events.

Agrima Agnihotri, Priyanka Singh and Mehaa Gupta led the team to a first place victory in Experimental Design. Singh and Gupta also won first in Forensics.

Sreenija Nalla and Baljot Ranu won first in Write It Do It.

Meghna Kupperaju and Anthony Heulitt earned second place in Forestry.

Parth Mandrekar and Baljot Ranu took home third place in Scrambler.

Priyanka Singh and Rohan Shah placed fourth in Anatomy.

Anthony Heulitt and Natesh Sudarshan took sixth place in Astronomy.

Agnihotri and Nalla earned eighth place in Boomilever.

Annie Zhang and Harry Young took ninth place in Circuit Lab. Shravali Reddy and Meghna Kuppuraju placed ninth in Rocks and Minerals.

Meghna Kuppuraju and Ben Arenstein earned 12th place in Chemistry Lab.

Coach Suzanne Wiedman said the second place win was a team effort.

“We emphasize the idea of teamwork because scientists work in teams,” Wiedman said in a statement. “The concept of a lone person is not often valid in the scientific world.”

RHS Science Olympiad team is preparing to compete in the state tournament at Middlesex County College in March. The team is currently seeking sponsors to assist them in preparation for the tournament.
