The Robbinsville Education Foundation is set to host its 11th annual Casino Night benefit.

This year, the foundation will honor Mike Reca, longtime member of the Robbinsville Board of Education, who was appointed to fill a vacancy in 2006 and served as the president of the board from April 2008 to December 2013.

Reca’s resume includes a myriad of volunteer contributions to the students and athletes in our community. Football, field hockey, baseball and wrestling programs benefited from his dedication to the community’s youth.

His tenure on the Board of Education included the passage of the successful referendum, “Classrooms for Kids;” improved test scores; bringing transparency through leadership to the board; moving the school budget to November for the 2 percent cap; and hiring superintendent in Dr. Steve Mayer.

Reca’s retirement from the board will allow him more time to spend with his wife of 25 years, Cheryl, a teacher in the West Windsor-Plainsboro School District. His children, Andrew and Casey, both graduated from Robbinsville High School and are currently attending college.

Casino Night is set to begin at 6 p.m. with a hors d’oeuvres reception. The recognition of the honoree will be at 6:30 p.m., followed by a buffet supper, and casino event. The evening includes a Texas Hold ’Em poker tournament sponsored by Lighton Industries. Space at the poker tournament is limited.

Casino Night is scheduled for March 14 at John Henry’s Stone Terrace, 2275 Kuser Road, Hamilton.

Tickets are $75.
