Representative from Doctors Without Borders speaks at PDS

Deane Marchbein, President of the Board of Directors of Doctors Without Border with Dominique Samuels (Trenton), at Princeton Day School. Dr. Marchbein spoke to Upper School students for the annual Pioneer of Science lecture.

On March 13, Dr. Deane Marchbein spoke to Upper School students at Princeton Day School for the annual Pioneer of Science lecture.

Student Dominique Samuels introduced Dr. Marchbein, the President of the Board of Directors for Doctors Without Borders USA.

Marchbein, an anesthesiologist, joined Doctors Without Borders in 2006, and has worked in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, Libya, Nigeria, South Sudan and Syria.

She is currently working in Khost, Afganistan, and shared with the students stories and photos from her work in a maternity hospital there.

Marchbein also spoke about the tuberculosis (TB) crisis that is unfolding globally. The drug resistant disease is spreading and it is extremely difficult to treat.
