Renovation work at what is formerly known as the En Route cafe at the Princeton Junction train station and is expected to continue through March.

Work to renovate the interior and exterior of the building — now known as the Faber News Cafe — as well as the area around the building will be done on weekends and between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on weekdays. At those times, fencing may be used to cordon off work areas, including a portion of the sidewalk adjacent to the kiss-and-ride drop-off area.

“During the project, the walkway leading to the cafe and platform will be closed,” according to information posted at the New Jersey Transit website. “Customers should walk around the fenced-in area for access to stairs and platform.”

Renovation work will include improvements to make the cafe more accessible for customers with disabilities and improving the air conditioning, as well as renovating the walls and removing trees and rehabilitating the walkway.

The cafe will remain open to customers during the renovation, and access to the inbound platform will not be affected.

In September, New Jersey Transit officials authorized a five-year lease with Faber Coe & Gregg of Florida for approximately 1,575 square feet of retail space at the train station for the operation of a coffee and retail concession.

The tenant is responsible for making the $350,000 in upgrades and ADA accessibility improvements to the retail space. The company has been operating at the train station over the last year.
