Rediscover the Hidden New Jersey,

in the library’s second floor Reading Room, 185 West State St., Trenton.

Roberts’ treasury of New Jersey stories celebrates the unique heritage of the Garden State. Included in its 15 chapters are New Jersey firsts, including stories of one of the first American folk heroes and daredevils lived here, celebrated sons and distinguished daughters—such as the woman who saved thousands from dying of yellow fever—great storms, ghost tales and legends, and historical happenings, such as one of the most devastating espionage attacks of World War I.

An award-winning full-time freelance writer, Roberts has published more than 60 books for both children and adults, including the regional best-sellers Down the Jersey Shore and Discover the Hidden New Jersey. Among his other titles are Stolen! A History of Base Stealing, 100 Greatest Baseball Players of All Time, 10 Days to A Sharper Memory and Historical Photos of New Jersey.

Among his more than 50 children’s books are examinations of the lives of Jefferson, Hamilton, Robert Goddard, Philo T. Farnsworth, Alicia Keys, Galileo and Nostradamus, as well as a series about characters from Greek mythology and volumes about the Statue of Liberty, Lincoln and the Abolition of Slavery and life in ancient China.

Roberts is a public speaker about topics of interest concerning New Jersey, ghost stories and other subjects.

The event will be held Wednesday, Jan. 11 from noon to 1 p.m. RSVP to Cindy Warrick at cwarrick@njstatelib.org or (609) 278-2640, Ext. 172.
