Diane Casale-Giannola of Plainsboro received the Rider University award for Distinguished teaching at the university’s 140th commencement. An assistant professor of teacher education at Rider, she teaches special education courses, supervises student teachers, maintains ongoing scholarly research, and assists in the work of her department.

She also actively contributes to the Rider Special Education Advisory Board, the Rider Student Council for Exceptional Children, the New Jersey Council for Exceptional Children, the New Jersey Coalition for Inclusive Education, and a national caucus of the Council for Exceptional Children.
