Princeton Youth Ballet holds auditions for upcoming season

Princeton Youth Ballet is holding open auditions for its 2017-2018 season on Sept. 23.

Auditions will take place at Princeton Dance and Theater Studio located at Princeton Forrestal Village, 116 Rockingham Row, Princeton.

Call times for young dancers are as follows:

1 to 2:30 p.m. — Advanced pointe dancers and advanced boys 14 and up (Interested applicants in this group must attend a ballet class prior to the audition at 10:30 a.m.)2:30 to 3:30 p.m. — Intermediate pointe dancers and intermediate boys ages 12 to 143:30 to 4:30 p.m. — Beginner pointe and pre-pointe dancers and beginner boys 10 and up4:30 to 5 p.m. — Dancers ages 7 and a half to 9, regardless of level

The audition is for participation in one or both of the company’s productions.

This season’s offerings include the traditional holiday favorite, The Nutcracker, on Dec. 9 and 10, and a spring program, which will include a new production of Carnival of the Animals, and a lively and comedic ballet especially adored by dancers, Graduation Ball, on May 5 and 6.

Dancers and families interested in learning more about Princeton Youth Ballet are invited to visit their Open House on Saturday, Sept. 16 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

“One of our missions at Princeton Youth Ballet is to encourage a love and appreciation for classical ballet through inspired storytelling, magical productions, and uncompromising artistry,” artistic director Risa Kaplowitz said. “Our productions give talented and well-trained young dancers the chance to perform in professional-quality productions.”
