Princeton University music department is set to present several concerts in November.
Princeton University Glee Club and Chamber Choir are scheduled to perform 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at Richardson Auditorium in Alexander Hall.
Led by Gabriel Crouch, Glee Club is Princeton’s oldest and most prestigious choir. Members come to the ensemble from all backgrounds, all corners of the globe, and all academic departments on campus.
The Yale Glee Club is set to join the Princeton groups in singing Jaakko Mäntyjärvi’s The Famous Tay Whale for double choir. This is the world premiere of the joint commission.
The program also includes work by Herbert Howells and Benjamin Britten.
Tickets are $15 for general public and $5 for students.
Two Princeton Sound Kitchen concerts are set for November.
Princeton Sound Kitchen (formerly the Composer’s Ensemble) provides a forum for Princeton composers to realize their musical visions onstage, cultivating a spirit of exploration and inquiry.
The Black Box Project is scheduled for 8 p.m. Nov. 5 at Wilson College’s Black Box Theatre.
Princeton composers Alex Dowling, Amanda Feery, Wally Gunn, Dave Molk and Jason Treuting will be showing newly devised performance works in a black box theater with director Laura Sheedy.
Obsession is scheduled for Nov. 19 at Arts Council of Princeton, 102 Witherspoon St., Princeton.
The concert features new works for solos and duos by Princeton composers Cameron Britt, Elliot Cole, Viet Cuong, Alex Dowling, Cenk Ergün, Emma O’Halloran, Chris Rogerson and Jason Treuting.
Princeton University Concert Jazz Ensemble is scheduled to perform 8 p.m. Nov. 23 at Richardson Auditorium.
The David Binney Quartet featuring alto saxophonist David Binney, pianist Jacob Sacks, bassist Eivind Opsvik and drummer Dan Weiss is set to perform.
Tickets are $15 general public and $5 for students.
The ensemble is conducted by Anthony D.J. Branker, who is celebrating his 25th year heading the Princeton University Jazz Program.
