A Senior Flu Shot Clinic and Health fair is set for Oct. 22.

Vaccinations are available to people 65 and older or adults with a chronic illness and a doctor’s note. They are free to those who present a Medicare Card with Medicare Part B or $20 for all others.

Contraindications to getting a flu shot include allergic reactions to eggs or chicken, or a previous life-threatening reaction to a flu shot. In addition, those with any bleeding disorders or who have a fever, respiratory ailment, or have any other debilitating illness at the time of the flu clinic should postpone getting a flu shot.

Pre-register for a time slot by calling Princeton Senior Resource Center at (609) 924-7108.

This year, the Health Fair is expanding to include several health screenings by Princeton HealthCare Systems and other providers. These will include blood pressure, glucose, medications, nutrition, dental, hearing, balance, vision, podiatry, home care and hospice, as well as information on other services.

People who get their annual flu shot may experience some soreness or tenderness at the site of the injection.

The clinic and fair is scheduled for 1 to 5:30 p.m. at Princeton Senior Resource Center’s Suzanne Patterson Building, 45 Stockton St., Princeton. It is is hosted by Princeton Senior Resource Center, Princeton Regional Health Department and Princeton HealthCare System.
