Steve Gillette and Cindy Mangsen are returning to the Princeton Folk Music Society’s concerts on Friday, Dec. 16 at Christ Congregation Church, 50 Walnut Lane, Princeton.

The Gillette and Mangsen concert will feature rich harmony and a dose of humor. The duo has performed on National Public Radio and across North America and Europe.

Gillette is a country-folk singer-songwriter with Western roots. Some of his best known songs have been covered by artists such as Ian & Sylvia, John Denver, Garth Brooks, Linda Ronstadt and Tammy Wynette. His songs aim to be thoughtful, perceptive and unpretentious by keeping his subjects in perspective. He sings in a baritone, is a virtuoso guitar player and demonstrates the technique using a flat-pick and two fingers in a unique, fingerpicking style.

Mangsen is known for interpretations of traditional Anglo-Scottish ballads. She is a keeper of old songs from haunting Scottish ballads to songs by Jack Hardy and Jean Ritchie. She accompanies the duo on guitar, concertina, dulcimer and banjo.
