Preliminary work on dredging of Grover’s Mill Pond should begin as planned in the spring, according to Mayor Hsueh. Even though the Water Resources Development Act was passed after both the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate voted to override President Bush’s veto of the federal bill, the Grover’s Mill Pond project would not have been affected either way, Hsueh said.##M:[more]##

Township engineer James Parvesse told council last month that a contract has been awarded to Select Transportation Inc. of Ohio. The schedule is to build the disposal area in Community Park this spring and have dredging begin next fall, he said.

Hsueh said that the contract was signed between the Army Corps of Engineers and the contractor on September 24. Law requires that the dredging only be done for a three-month period from August to November.
