Plainsboro Looks for Wicoff Grants

Officials in Plainsboro have been working with the township’s historical society to help it improve its ability to function and thrive administratively, says Township Administrator Robert Sheehan.

“We’ve also been helping them with the management of the collection of the artifacts that they have to try to provide some structure so that it is put into a better position to secure grants from various sources,” says Sheehan.

Sheehan says that “it’s been a labor of love” of a group of citizens who have done a great service. But, it has been run informally, and township officials want to help the group put into place some administrative functions that will help turn the organization into a “more attractive organization” to which various sources will be more inclined to grant funding, something which has been hard to do up to now.

Township officials are also working on a plan to identify parts of the Wicoff House to which the society will have access for its programs and exhibits. The plan will also identify other functions and benefits the building could provide the township, Sheehan says. Officials are also taking a look at the physical condition of the building to see what type of maintenance program will be needed for the building.
