Parks Commission awarded for Tennis Center

The United States Tennis Association selected Mercer County Park Commission for its 2013 Non-Commercial Organization of the Year.

USTA Middle States New Jersey District plans to award the commission at its award ceremony April 6 in Mount Laurel.

Among the award criteria are service to the tennis community, including facilities for clinics and other events; service to organization members, including tournaments, leagues and instructional offerings; and scope of programming.

The Park Commission’s year-round Tennis Center, located in Mercer County Park in West Windsor, features 22 outdoor and six indoor courts. It offers junior and adult lesson programs, as well as leagues, tournaments and special events. The Mercer County Tennis Hall of Fame, to which 28 people have been inducted, is located at the Tennis Center.

Registration for 2014 March through August tennis programs, leagues and tournaments at the Mercer County Tennis Center is scheduled to begin online Feb. 15. Adult Program registration begins at 8 a.m., Junior Program registration begins at 9 a.m., Summer league registration and all Park Commission tournament registration begin at 8 a.m.

In-person registration begins Feb. 16.
