Parking Application Fee Increases

The West Windsor Parking Authority has increased the application fee for anyone interested in putting his or her name on the waiting list for a parking pass at the Princeton Junction train station to $75. The move, discussed earlier this year, is being viewed as a way to ensure people who put their names on the list are very serious about a permit. The parking authority, which is determining how many spaces really are needed at the station, is trying to ensure that the number of people on the waiting list, which it is using as a guide, is as accurate as possible.

Currently, the fee is $5 to apply for parking permit and put a name on the waiting list. But the parking authority is looking at allowing a large portion of that application fee to be used toward a person’s first quarter payment for the permit fee when his or her name does come up.

Councilwoman Linda Geevers, the parking authority liaison reported the fee increase during the council’s March 16 meeting. She said if a person does not want the space when his or her name comes up, $65 will be given back. For those who do take it, they will be able to apply $65 toward their first payments.

People currently on the waiting list will be grandfathered into the new process, meaning they will not have to pay $75 to stay on the waiting list.
