The West Windsor Republican Municipal Committee has unanimously elected Christine Bator as its new committee chair to replace retiring chair Lois Morgan, wife of Councilman Charles Morgan.

Bator, an attorney and a long-time West Windsor resident, is a former commissioner of the New Jersey Highway Authority and a former commissioner of the state Board of Public Utilities. She is currently an adjunct professor at Seton Hall and Rutgers law schools, serves on the advisory board of the Gas Technology Institute, is a trustee of New Jersey Women Lawyers, and is a member of the Mercer County Women Lawyers Committee. She is also a Member of Mercer County Republican Women and Middlesex County Republican Women.

Bator has previously served as the vice chair of Republican Women 2000 and as president of Executive Women of New Jersey. She was a member of Grow Republican Women, a NJ Bar Trustee, and a Mercer County Bar Foundation Trustee.

“West Windsor has one of the best school systems in the state of New Jersey,” said Bator. “Our residents have access to the northeast corridor rail line, so they can work anywhere in New Jersey, New York City or Philadelphia. What our residents need are lower taxes and fiscally transparent and sound county and municipal governments. We can only do this with a bipartisan council and a bipartisan board of freeholders.”

Bator noted that at the county level there are no Republican freeholders. Although West Windsor has non-partisan elections of council members, only two of the five are currently Republicans, she said. Republican Charles Morgan is retiring in November. “A one-party system does not further the democratic process. An important goal of our committee is to achieve an equitable party balance,” Bator said.

The West Windsor Republican Committee is in the process of reviewing candidates to run for the West Windsor Council and will announce its endorsement of a slate of candidates soon.
