Just in time for Halloween, the Plainsboro Township Committee discussed the potential opening of a new cemetery at its October 23 meeting. The cemetery is slated to be built on property adjacent to the former Saint Joseph’s Seminary on Mapleton Road.

According to Township Planning and Zoning Director Les Varga, “a few years ago, at the behest of the seminary, this piece of property was rezoned to allow for a cemetery. There is now a potential cemetery operator who has already received the requisite state approval; he now needs the approval of Township Committee.”

The matter will likely be heard by the Planning Board in November or December, and then the application will return to the committee for approval.
