New Jersey Opera Theater, based in West Windsor, has changed its name to Opera New Jersey. In acknowledging its mission to present high quality opera productions as well as educational programming throughout the state of New Jersey, the timing of this name change is perfect, says Lisa Altman, executive director in a press release. “Opera NJ succinctly describes precisely what we have been doing and where we have been doing it — neither of which are changing. This new name will better reflect our geographical and creative growth.”##M:[more]##

The organization, close to five years old, was founded by Lisa and Scott Altman of West Windsor. Future events include a gala at the Hyatt in Carnegie Center on Saturday, October 13, and three concert-staged performances of “Rigoletto in February at McCarter and the State Theater in New Brunswick.
