The West Windsor Township council introduced the 2006 wage and salary ordinance, which could raise the pay for supervisory municipal employees and members of the administration.

Council members themselves did not get an increase in pay, their annual salary remains at $4,941 each. Mayor Hsueh’s salary will also stay the same. He is paid $17,685 per year. At his August 8 town hall meeting, he joked that his salary barely covers his property taxes.

There will be a public hearing on the ordinance, followed by a vote, at the Monday, September 11 council meeting. The ordinance is a result of a collective bargaining agreement with the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, which was passed by the Council on July 31.

The agreement calls for a 3.5 percent increase this year, and a 3.5 percent increase next year. In 2008, the increase will be 3.75 percent. Specific information on the salaries is not available, only salary ranges.

Salaries will be increased for municipal supervisors such as business administrator Christopher Marion, township Engineer James Parvesse, township clerk Sharon Young, and Chief Financial Officer Joanne Louth.
